July 27, 2018

We have survived yet another heat wave in Los Angeles!  I am still shocked our kale hasn't bolted yet being that it is a cooler seasoned crop.

There are some delicious fruits being harvested right now like plums and doughnut peaches.  I harvested a bunch of the peaches for tomorrows garden dinner chef.  As you can see from this weeks blog photo, most of the artichokes are now flowering & look like jewels!

In addition to a garden dinner tomorrow night, we also have Yoga Saturday morning and Goat Yoga (2 classes) on Sunday.

If any of you are ever interested in volunteering in the garden, I have created a new experience on AirBnB called 'Farmers Hike & Harvest.'  Participants get to volunteer with a garden project in addition to make a healthy snack from the garden.  The first one is next Friday and is already sold out!  I will be adding new dates again soon.

Current Harvest at Saddlerock:  Plums, Doughnut Peaches, Apples, Tomatoes, Beets, Collards, Strawberries, Carrots, Kale, Artichokes, Hot Banana Peppers, Sweet Bell Peppers, Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme, Mint, & Edible Flowers.
