Well here we now are in August!  I have seen a large increase in pollinators in the garden which makes my heart happy.  Heaps of bees, butterflies & hummingbirds.  What didn't make my heart happy was gophers and bunnies.  But everything needs to eat right?!

A nature camp called 'Biocitizen LA' brought some adorable explorers to the garden this week.  They hiked the property, fed the animals and participated in a garden project sowing seeds.  They sowed chard, squashes and nasturtiums.  Here is the link should you be interested in your kids participating.  They will also be offering camps over school breaks.

Today was the first experience with our new tour called 'Farmers Hike & Harvest.'  It can be found under AirBnB Experiences, but won't be scheduled as regularly as our 'Hike & Harvest' experience.  Participants absolutely loved it!  They transplanted purple basil into a new garden bed, and also pruned & deadheaded more mature basil.  We had some extra ingredients for the garden snack so we made two easy & fresh mini salads and a bruschetta snack with crackers.

Current Harvest at Saddlerock:  Plums, Doughnut Peaches, Apples, Tomatoes, Beets, Strawberries, Carrots, Kale, Hot Banana Peppers, Sweet Bell Peppers, Chives, Basil, Rosemary, Oregano, Thyme, Mint, & Edible Flowers.
